MY period was late and then VERY light?

it lasted about 6 days on & off being very light i ttok a pregnancy test and it was neg with in secs....any ideasMY period was late and then VERY light?
Most pregnancy tests advise you miss a period or at least test 5 days before your next scheduled period. So, while it's possible to be pregnant and not have the results show it in a home pregnancy test.. it's better off to wait until your next period is due and late by 5 days (since the HPTest checks for hormones that are only secreted when pregnant - or by medicines taken while trying to get pregnant) and test again.
The safest way is to have safe sex, unless you want and are planning for a child. In that case assume you are pregnant, because that way, you are treating your body as if you were, by doing and eating all the right things. :) I wish you the best in whichever direction you want your life to go!!
Sometimes periods are just weird...some months mine are really heavy and some months they're lighter. I've been having mine on Thursdays every four weeks for about 8 months, and then last month it didn't come til Saturday. So it might just be your period being weird for no reason except to annoy you.
This sometimes happens with me too. I asked the doctor. He said that there's nothing to worry. Its normal.
