so, after the seven day period of no pills i started my second pack last night. so i took my pill, and about 2 or 3 hours later had sex. he finished in me and i'm wondering if i am safe.Okay, just started second pack of birth control...?
Okay, regarding the previous answerer, birth control pills do NOT have a seven percent failure rate. It's less than one percent if you use them correctly. And you don't ovulate while you are on the pill, that's the whole point.
As far as your question, yes, you should be covered by now. As long as you don't go more than the 7-day placebo period between packs, and you take the pill at the same time every day, you are well protected from pregnancy at any time of your cycle.
Only abstaining is safe for sure, birth control pills have like a 7% chance of not working... but you are probably fine. If you just finished your period, you shouldnt have ovulated yet. That alone diminishes the chances that you will be pregnant. The pill is designed to work any time during your cycle by altering either progesterone, estrogen levels or both.
you're ok if you've been taking your pills regularly up to 7 day pill-free period, don't worry.
If you are on the pill and you are taking it properly (it sounds to me that you are) the effectiveness is still 99.9%. If I am not mistaken, the pills are taken everyday, but it is the pills all together that make them work, not each works separatley every day.
sorry to say.... doubtful.. wait 20 days and take a pregnancy test
